SUSTAINABILITY
As ESPN, we are committed to reducing emissions and waste across all our events.
With our congress organizer, OIC Group – ISO 20121 certified and carbon neutral company – we are moving on to make significant strides toward a more SUSTAINABLE FUTURE.
OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Food waste has a major environmental and social impact. It leads to the loss of valuable resources and contributes significantly to pollution due to the high carbon footprint of food production, transport, and disposal. For ESPN F&B services in Athens we are partnering with:

Social Commitment
Intercatering is a founding member of the Alliance for the Reduction of Food Waste (2020), under the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy. The alliance promotes:
- Awareness and education on food waste
- Sharing best practices
- Food donation initiatives
- Support for public policies on waste prevention
Key Actions
- Local, seasonal sourcing to reduce energy use in packaging and transport
- Staff training to optimize ingredient use and minimize waste
- Portion planning by chefs and client guidance to avoid overproduction
- Recycling of paper, plastic, glass, and used cooking oil
- Organic waste composting to produce natural fertilizer
And you, as participant, what can you do?

SMART MOBILITY
Organize your commute in a sustainable way to the conference venue. Use carpooling with others, or using bicycles, scooters, or hybrid or electric cars.

REDUCE THE USE OF PAPER
We can save forests by avoiding paper consumption and otping for digitalmethods. We prefer digital modes, QR codes and online agendas. If absolutely essential, we use FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper.
If you are a poster presenter, please make sure you print your poster on eco-friendly paper and avoid laminated formats!
